Community Zone

We want to provide all children and young people with access to regular sport and physical activity in fun and safe environments which are local to them. We have therefore secured funding from a variety of sources to deliver provision in targeted communities to enhance health and wellbeing and address issues such social isolation and anti-social behaviour.

By connecting children, young people and families to their local community we hope to provide inspiring opportunities that enable them to experience a sense of fulfilment and develop positive behaviours that support personal, social and emotional development. This work is often delivered in partnership with other organisations and the impact is wide ranging, as highlighted in the quote below:

“The weekly Move More Activity Club has given the local children in St. Pauls the opportunity to try out new physical activities in order to widen their experiences and learn new skills. A high number of the children and young people who attend are from low-income families and/or are eligible for free school meals. Because the Activity Club is free, any financial barriers are removed so that they are able attend the sessions with their existing friends and make new ones, this can help to combat isolation and poor mental health which is increasing in children and young people.

As well as the physical activity aspect, Move More have been there for the children and young people on a pastoral level. The children and young people can speak to the coaches about a variety of subjects from school to home life which gives Move More a really good guide as to how the children and young people are doing and offer them external support which is sometimes needed due to barriers with school.”
